The customer service phone rang endlessly and when someone did finally answer the phone, they just picked it up and hung it up. They would not answer the phone at all after that. I have not even done business with this company yet. I telephoned them because of product offers that I received by word of mouth, but confirmation is not possible. They obviously do not need any new customers. Also, from the reviews I've read on-line today by paying customers of Best Buy, I'm am probably better off not doing business with them at all in the long run.
Nightmare for Laptop Warranty Repair: I bought Sony laptop with the expensive 4 yr service plan from B Buy. What a mistake. The first thing that went was the motherboard. They didn't diagnose it properly even though there was a recall. So I sent it to Sony - they told me they would look at my machine but it would take 3 weeks for me to get it back as they had 30 computers ahead of mine! So I sent it to Sony - where I should have purchased the plan. They replaced the motherboard and noticed a cracked corner in my plastic case which cost $300 to replace. No, I didn't throw it on the ground to cause the flimsy case to crack!!! THis was the perfect out, however, for Best Buy. Apparently Circuit City has accidental damage protection included with their policy. Now I know. Nothing is covered if there is a crack in your case with Best Buy. Also, they refused to fix a broken DVD bay that started acting scratchy after Sony replaced my motherboard and case. The geek squad manager at the Wilmington, DE store is especially rude. Nothing is covered. Nothing is his fault, and you can wait to collect Social Security before you will get your machine back. Take home message: 1. I won't buy their plans - deal with mfr directly. 2. I won't buy at BBuy, just Circuit City because of the accidental damage problem. 3. Service at CCity is friendly and prompt. I will be doing business there as my lesson learned!!!!! - P

From past experience with Best Buy's customer service, this sounds exactly like what happened to me. We have been dealing with them for about 10 years, and have had problems with electronics. Each time, we had to go in person to the store and try to get someone to help. Biggest problem with that - apathetic employees who made us feel like we were truly bothering them with our nonsense. We don't have a lot of choices, they are still a big store and have a lot of great stuff. But they need help with customer service. It's horrible!
