Well after a dozen outstanding meals at LHF, my wife and I made reservations last saturday night for a birthday dinner to enjoy it with our good friends. The first bad omen was the $20 parking fee on weekends as opposed to the $6 charged weekdays nights. The second strike was when they informed us that they did not have our reservation which I called in to a young lady that friday. We were told we would have to stand outside lol after a brief discussion we were seated. There was plenty of disorganized staff running about like the ducks with out their heads, which we were about to order, that is, if they ever get around to taking it.It seemed they were also preoccupied with another group who's reservations were misplaced. In a little over a half hour wait they finally took our order. the place was only half filled at the time!!
The soup was tabled quickly and was piping hot and both above average( Hot&Sour and Chicken Asparagus though their was very very little chicken), a bit later came our double order of Pain Fried Dumplings, they were very good but now room tempeture from waiting to be served. did I say the services was poor, strike three & four( a foul ball no less)
within five minutes came our main courses, way to early since we were still trying to get through the soup and dumplings. The Duck Two Course was and is the best in philly but the cloud like buns were just dumped on a plate were they stuck together nice touch I mean you had to have a nice touch or they would rip apart from being stuck together. I was told the Tofoballs with Crab were excellent. The fried noodles and pork on the other hand was a gray tasteless mass of soggy noodles stuck together in a clump with a mix of gray pork in a gray translucent bland sauce, a very sad dish indeed! The word fried apparently was lost in the translation.
The service was at best inept, and uncaring with no attention to detail or respect for the food. I hope they get it together because currently they are fooked up!!
There is no other choice: The outside of the building is the same but the inside has been polished. The food never changes so you can expect the same fantastic taste every time.
Go during the week cause weekends you'll be waiting. Salt baked shrimp is always worth the wait though.
