Was there on 10/21/07 to see Another Animal and Alter Bridge. Have to say that the venue location and the actual concert hall are awesome. A generally small venue with an excellent floor plan with no bad viewing locations. In fact, the over 21 group can view the show from backstage!!! Drinks are very expensive. A Dewars and water $7.25 at the bar and $9.25 by waitress. WTF??? If it were a 16 oz drink no problem, but the total drink was only about 6oz. Beer prices were not that bad. Now, for the good stuff -- light show and hall decor are really neat. The ownership has set the place up to be attractive and almost "disneyesque". Security was more than ample and very friendly and informative. Bad stuff - HORRIBLE SOUND. Seems like the sound guys just crank up the sound to compensate for the poor cavernous concert all with poor accoustics. The owners need to invest in sound dampening improvements on the walls and ceilings. We could not really make out the words of any of the songs and could not distinctly hear the instruments. The sound was completely "muddied". It did not do either Animal or Alter Bridge any good. If you are familiar with their music, then you could figure out what was happening, If not, you may not want to ever by any of their material because you had no clue as to what it should really sound like!!! Just my opine.
This is one of the better venues in the philadelphia area. Not to big to have rediculous seating that is not worth the price of admission, but big enough for a good crowd experience. The best part is that it is big enough to get all the best bands, and so if your band is touring, they will most likely be at the electric factory at some point. Therefore if you live in the area, and you want to go to concerts, for better or for worse, you will be going to the electric factory. That said, it is not a bad option so go ahead.
I: The Electric Factory In Philly is by far the coolest venue for concerts I have seen...Saw H.I.M. there last spring and it was AWESOME!!!!! Definitely a recommendation to stop by and see who is playing if you are in Philly for a few days!!!
