I choose this place for my sister's surprise 40th birthday party strictly from the reviews and information on Mcgillin's website. I was nervous about it but had no choice, as I live 2 1/2 hours away. The managers were thorough and pleasant on the phone which put me at ease. When I arrived the morning of the party to decorate I noticed this bar had a old character charm and I was excited to see if everyone else loved it too. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable (the waitresses could have smiled a bit more but how could i complain). During the party I was given many compliments on choosing such a cool place. My family is Irish so that may have been why they thought it was so cool. The private party room is upstairs with its own cherry wood bar and several tables. The downstairs looked like a younger cool crowd...wished I could have stayed to hang out there;)
I reccommend this place to anyone who is looking to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. The staff was wonderful, the food was good, and the prices were decent...but more than anything the atmosphere was authentic and fun!

Really good bar: Truly an old Pub in one of the oldest cities in the country. Excellent beer choices, good fish and chips and great atmosphere.

Always a good time to be had: McGillins is a great place to go for a group of people. Great prices for beer, lots of selections and the food is good too. Can't go wrong with the $6 steak special on Saturdays and the Wings specials during the week. A must stop for any pub crawlers!
