Very happy with their menu choices - can order from the dinner or tavern menu. We had a party of 10 for a birthday dinner and our group ordered from both menu's. Food was hot, tasty and served promptly. Vegetables were fresh not frozen. We also have reserved the upstairs private room and were attended by the staff with much detail. The viewsof the city were beautiful at night. Very clean and decorated nicely. Would use again for a function. Bartender was awesome - Yeah Liam! Thanks for the memories!
I agree with a couple of other reviewer that the service at this restaurant need some improvements.
What I find most disturbing however is that they charged over 30% gratuity charge to my credit card which I didn't authorize. It came out to $17 for a 50 dollar meal. I called to have a discussion with "the manager" Ms. A.. I thought we will have a reasonable discussion and come to an understanding. Instead, I was blasted with a whole litany of excuses, which ended finally with, "We get that kind of call all the time." I would have thought the right thing to do is to pull up the receipt and see what happened. If they do get this kind of call all the time, then I would imagine they try to do something about it, or at least tell the customers to use cash only.
I have had additional tips added to my credit card bill before, but never this much. In case you are wondering, I don't think I am a cheap tipper. I usually tip between 15%-20% depending on my mood and service. I once tip 30% on a $150 meal for 2 because the waiter was so patient with us. I suppose one possibility is that 30% is the norm now day. Searching through the internet, I discover that 30% is not the norm yet. However, I do find plenty of complaints about how restaurant change the tip amount with credit card bill. Personally, I don't think this practice should be ignored or tolerated!
The motto for Rembrandt's is "an experience to remember." And, they certainly have done that. For that, I give them 2 stars.
Talk about disappointment! My fiance and I were excited to try Rembrant's due to the information on its website and location near the art museum. But after this experience we vow not to try a restaurant base on good advertisement. Service was bad and food was over priced. We ordered fried calamari with three sauces. Let's said- it was the worst I have ever had. It was bland and greasy and the sauces did NOT leave me crying for more. For entree we order the salmon and rib eye steak. For $22.95, they should have serve fries with the gritzy steak. My salmon was bland despite it pleasant presentation.
Now onto the service- not enjoyable at all. Several people serve us but always with a sense of duty. Our main waiter was usually nowhere to be found. The worst part- we found out that they double charge us gratuity!
What is this world coming to that we are force to pay an automatic 17% tip even when the service is poor.
