| About: | A long, narrow room with some of the best jazz in the country. The Ortlieb's Jazzhaus bar is always packed and tables are at a premium in this mid-sized venue. Though it's a bit cramped, patrons are willing to sacrifice some elbow room for the jazz. Attached to what's left of the Ortlieb's brewery, this jazz venue serves the original recipe of this local favorite beer. Who ever thought Ortlieb's would come back as a microbrew? Paprika and chili-powder-laden crawdads, gumbos and jambalayas are served along with a side of live jazz seven nights a week. |

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of my favorite places in the world: I've travelled the world and Ortlieb's Jazzhause is on of my favorites. Whether you are enjoying a quiet dinner or bopping your head to some of the best local jazz musicians, Ortliebs has a distinct charm that will make anyone a fan. I don't get there as often as I would like, but I can close my eyes and imagine the base player in a quartet bringing the house down with a solo, the large buffalo head that sits on the wall, the long narrow interior and I can almost taste a cold Yuegling Porter that they serve on tap daily. They often closed early, which was a disappointment for me on many occasions, but I now realize that it just made me eager for the next time. I love this place!
