| About: | Renovated in June 2007, Silk City is actually two places joined together. The diner was originally built by the Silk City company in the 1930s. If you are familiar with the old Silk City menu, expect changes. Instead of the usual diner fare the new menu features more inventive dishes such as Wasabi Mashed Potatoes, Crab Cake Sandwiches and more. Average price given below accounts for diner. On the other side of the entrance is the lounge. It opens around 4pm for happy hour, and after 7pm there are DJ parties and the occasional live performance. You can hear anything from Latin, hip-hop, to 80s, disco & psychedelic. The range of music played is incredible. See website for event details. |

I saw the Silk City Diner on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network. My friend and I went to Philadelphia for a conference last week and I knew I had to go. The food was awesome! We had fish tacos, fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Even the mashed potatoes and green beans served with the cheicken were delicious! It reminded me of my Grandmothers cooking. We also had the special, pomegranate margaritas. Excellent! The service was great, the restaurant was clean, and the occasional horse drawn carriage outside on the street just made it that much better.
Come one man, I am watching the restaurant as I write on Diners, Driv-ins and Dives. Mannnnnnn, I am dying, it is 11:34 here in Minnesota, that is at night an man, I just cant get enough of these cook shows, especially this show. I mean when I am able that is how I am going to spend my time traveling, going from city to city just to eat at these places Guy is talking about.
Awsome spot.
