| About: | Geno's Steaks has been a key member of the famous Philadelphia Cheese steak triad (Geno's, Pat's, Jim's) for as long as memory serves. A typical topic of conversation among locals is which one of these masters of the rib eye reigns supreme. Some say Geno's sandwiches are bigger but Pat's are better. Truth be told, any of the three do justice to the city's signature sandwich. Located across from arch-nemesis Pat's in South Philadelphia near the Italian Market. Outside seating only. |

WILL NOT GO BACK: iT'S A FAMOUS PLACE, BECAUSE OF IT'SLOCATION AND YEARS IN BUSINESS. lOT'S OF FAMOUS PEPLE HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE PAST. BUT THE CHESE STAEAK IS HORRIBLE FOR BEING IIN PHILADELPHIA.
half of the meat fat, the bread is not that good
the cheese test like plastic
for good steak go to either Pat's cross the street or go to James steak 4th and south
So visting Philidelphia, the tourist thing to do is to go to either Geno's or Pat's. They are both across the street from each other, so you have an easy choice. Heard so much about this place, so we thought we would have an authentic Philly Steak sandwich. I would say that we were very dissapointed with what we got.I wouldn't say it was horrible, but $8-$9 dollars for the sandwich with just unflavored meat and Whiz slabbed on it. Yeah you can change the cheese put the peppers and onions and all that other fixings, but the sandwich should be able to stand alone. The only thing giving it flavor is putting the Whiz on it, but I would say this is overrated, and more of a landmark than anything else. For us, we will stay with Jim's Steaks on 62nd ST.
