We had a wonderful experience at Schwenksville Vet! The veterinarian and staff were caring, compassionate, and professional beyond any vet hospital we've been to before. Our dog was very sick with kidney disease and not only did they help her get better, but they were always accommodating to our schedule and understanding about the stress my family experienced when our pet was so ill. We look forward to going back for yearly check-ups and will continue to recommend Scwenksville to our friends.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience there (it used to not be that way. I met Lynn Maltez in August of 2006 when our yellow lab had cancer. Sadly we had to euthanize the dog; I was very impressed with Dr. Maltez, you could really tell that she knew her stuff. The night we had to put our dog to sleep she stayed open late for us and was very personable. Lynn's death is a real loss to all pet owners and it's of all the vets I've been to there was no comparison, Lynn definetaly had a calling. I hope you are able to find another vet that you can be content with.
The doctors at Schwenksville Vet may, for all I know, be the best in the world. But I'll never find out.
We moved to Schwenksville from about 20 minutes away and wanted to change to the Sch. Vet due to the driving distance. We wanted to get our cat's front claws removed and after the initial "meet the vet" visit - a checkup that ended up costing us $40, plus the fact that he had just had a checkup the month before - the doctor became completely inaccessible. We were told we needed ANOTHER appointment for blood work (why couldn't it be done that first day?) and then another for the surgery itself. Every time I called, the receptionist said she couldn't make the appointment for us - she said the doctor (who was always in surgery or with someone) would call us back. Isn't that what a receptionist is for?
My fiance got the feeling that the vet is against declawing and was trying to deter us from doing it by talking him out of it, quoting an outrageous price for the surgery, and then saying that they don't have the drugs in stock for the procedure. I understand that some people may think that declawing is cruel, but honestly, that's not the vet's decision to make.
I get the impression that there is only one doctor and one receptionist there - I would not feel confident taking my cat there in an emergency. I'd rather drive the extra 15 minutes and be seen right away than sit in the office with a sick pet, staring at the one and only receptionist.
After waiting for a returned call for A WEEK AND A HALF, I called up our old vet and had our account reactivated and the appointment scheduled for four days later. I would love to tell Schwenksville vet why we won't be going there again, but I doubt they'll ever call me back to give me the chance.

This comment is for Angie, Dr. Lynn Maletz was THE BEST!! Dr. Maletz passed away about 3 months ago. She is missed by many pets, owners and friends.
Hi. I understand about your bad experience with schwenksville vet. You mentioned going to another vet 15 min further away. If that is Trooper vet don't work with dr. Kraft. He overlooked a serious liver shunt in my young severely diabetic dog in 2003. She died last July due the shunt's complications with the diabetes. Er vets did a simple ultrasound and found the liver defect (she was becoming very hard to regulate on insulin). She was too old then for the surgery. It was too late. She was only 7 years old and died in convulsions from insulin shock. Kraft should have found that liver shunt when she was young, when it could have been surgically corrected. I will never go to Trooper vet again. (norristown off 363 and ridge pike).
