Arner's Family Restaurant

Stopped there once for breakfast, first impression was of a popular diner, nice crowd food must be good. I ordered hash and eggs, asked the waitress if the hash was home made was told yes. Homemade?? no way, right out of the can. Wife's breakfast was not memorable. We are willing to try again, maybe on a week day when they are a little slower.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Arner's! The food was a refreshing change from most chain restaurants. Everything tasted like it was homemade and not boiled in a bag. The salad bar had a large variety of choices and they all tasted fresh. The salad bar, and the whole restaurant were very clean. I wish I had saved room for dessert. All homemade, I wanted a bite of each one!I settled instead for taking dessert home with me- a whole pie! I didn't think it would be possible for it to taste as good as it looked, but I was wrong! Arner's has a reputation for their "mile high pies" and my banana cream lived up to that definition! It was absolutely delicious. I'm definitely ordering one to impress my company on Thanksgiving (I don't think I can wait that long). Arner's has found a repeat customer.

Arner's on DuPont Highway in New Castle was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The food was terrible but the service was even worse. The table was dirty and greasy when we sat down the already miserable waitress was incredibly rude to my 86 year old grandmother. The salad bar was sloppy looking with food spashled all over it. The fried chicken was clearly very old and had been dropped back into a grease vat and served with the instant mashed potatoes. The $16.99 New York strip steak had so much grizzle on and I was charged extra for eating my daughter's salad which came with her steak dinner. The manager was unapoligetic and incredibly rude and nasty - I thought there was a hidden camera for a candid camera episode but this was real life in a bad restaurant. Oh yeah and there were roaches in the bathroom. I cannot imagine what was in the kitchen....
