User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe best Caribbean restaurant in all of Dc. I go to this carry-out restaurant at least once a week. I love the jerk chicken, rice and peas, and plaintains. They have the best jerk chicken and the best oxtails in the Washington, D.C. area. I have never had a complaint about this restaurant. ...and they carry Sorrel drinks sometime!
Tropicana and the other Caribbean restaurant at 6th and H--are no where near as good as this place.
The people are nice (mother and son team cook most of the time).
I have been going here for years. I whole-heartedly disagree with the last review. Everytime I bring people there they are instant fans. I have even used them to cater events for my company when we had a Multi-cultural/Diversity day.
User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThis food was Nasty!!! I got an order of curry shrimp this evening and the shrimp was hard and old, the rice was old, and the taste was not appealing. Then I had a side of fried dumplings which tasted like baking soda and dough. I also had a side of plantains that were not ripe. Yuk. I guess I've been spoiled by my little spots in NY. I will travel across town to Tropicana on GA ave. before going to this place again and I live right up the street from here! On another note, the kitchen was clean and restaurant was clean with the exception of a baby car seat sitting near the stove. I don't know what that was about!
