Had a lunch meeting at Cafe 15 yesterday. It is restaurant week so they had both their standard menu and also a price-fixed three course menu. The items on the regular menu ranged from 12-30 dollars and the three course meal was $20 so it was a no brainer. Both my starter and main dish were fish and prepared well. There was delicious red cabbage with the main course which is one of my favorites. The desert was a coconut sorbet with fresh fruit sauce which I think was passion fruit. Overall the meal was good but I would rather go to a good steak house then a place such as this that has small portions presented in creative ways.
Disappointing: Went for Restaurant Week, expecting that, like most good restaurants, Cafe 15 would want to showcase its menu. Wrong. The Restaurant Week menu was pedestrian, the food only average, and the portions small (like the old Catskills joke). One of our party ordered from the regular menu, which was moderately better. The service was like molasses. Won't go back.
