The Sushi Ko food philosophy is Cuisine of Subtraction. According to Creative Director Daisuke Utagawa, subtraction allows chefs to reveal the essence of each ingredient in it's most honest yet refined state. By subtly combining other ingredients, a taste sensation is created that demonstrates the complexity and beauty of nature for the eye and the palate.
Absolutely amazing. I start with either Honey soy roasted duck breast with mustard miso, grilled baby octopus, or edamame (all delectable) and then have the chicken teriyaki with cherry tomato salad. The service was great. I myself do not like sushi much, but my friends wanted to order sushi but didn't know what type to get. The waiter gave what seemed to be great advice and they also thoroughly enjoyed it.
Multiple Foodgasm: What I experienced at Sushi Ko last night. Oh but yet ladiesâ¦you didnât think you could have multiple foodgasmsâ¦and usually they come from a small batch of fancy chocolatesâ¦but let me tell youâ¦there was no chocolate, only the most incredible dishes at Sushi Ko!
Sushi Ko in the Glover park area of NW DC has long been regarded as the premier spot of sushi in the area and after finally dining there I can attest it to be 100% true! Iâve had a lot of sushi in my time and this was hands down the best.
I went with 2 friends; we all ordered one sushi roll each: a dragon roll, a crunchy shrimp roll and a spicy tuna roll. All three were so fresh, so perfectly done, so mind-blowingly succulent, I mean my mouth is watering, quite literally right now thinking about them.
My friends and I enjoyed Cranberry Saketiniâs, a take on a martini made with sake instead of gin or vodka.
After the first round of sushi, which I could have gorged on eating more, we ordered small plates of chicken yakitori, a chicken grilled on skewers with scallions; a tuna dish topped with the tiniest diced potatoes; another teriyaki chicken dish with chopped chicken and a perfect teriyaki sauce; and the delectable morsels that made me shudder and shush one of my dinner companionsâ¦as the split lobster tail with scallops and a very light amazing sauce that I wanted to lick off the plate. It was a âsmall plateâ so we ordered it againâ¦I cannot tell you how incredible the food was enough. Whatever you order at Sushi Ko will not be a disappointment.
Word of cautionâ¦if you go make reservations unless you are prepared to stand outside and wait for a minimum of an hour.
