Yum!: I live in NY and visit Teaism whenever I'm in DC. Oh, the tea selection is wonderful! The food is great, and the salty oat cookies are incredible!
The anti-Starbucks: I love their tea selection and pastries, especially the salty cookies and ginger scones. Delicious! The savory food is okay, too, but nothing too special. Service is very slow (it's self service, but the cashiers and cooks are slow), but I guess that's part of the anti-establishment groove playing at Teaism...
Loooove this place! I'm addicted.: Not your typical typical tea bar, this little nook on Connecticut Ave is a little piece of Zen heaven. The shop is always a bit crowded, and seemingly always dry on their complimentary water... but the Asian themed food is a delicious blend of hippie food and bento boxes, and the teas- hot or cold- are awesome. The atmosphere is perfect for grabbing a corner by the window and reading... studying... etc, or hanging out when you need a little rejuvination- healthy personal time. I wouldn't recommend Teaism for groups more than two- unless you're going in the evening or off hours, because of the space. However, saying that- the take out is great as well... and they always welcome folks (and pets) to hang out on the patch of grass outside.
