Last Friday, some friends and I met for our monthly âDining Outâ gathering at Oliveâs Restaurant on K Street. We began the evening with drinks and appetizers, where some of the women experienced Oliveâs renowned âolive spreadâ with their freshly baked selection of breads. As a treat, we all tantalized our appetites with their parmesan frites. Their Mojitos were more like lemonade and once seated for dinner, the price went up almost 2 ½ times. I guess the bar tender needs to go to the school the chef attended!
We later retrieved to dinner, where we all enjoyed the rustic infusion of Tuscany & Mediterranean cuisine. I must say, I cheated a bit hereâ¦..I have gone to Olives numerous times. I wanted my friends to also enjoy a succulent evening of dinning. Many of the dishes have become my favorite. Because the menu undergoes regular face-lifts, I just have to keep going back for more. We loved the pan roasted sea scallops, fork-tender steak and seared tuna. One of my friendâs entrée came with some garlic-butter baby spinach, which we all dived in on, then turned around and ordered secondsâ¦..Unfortunately the second batch was not as good as the first.
The food and atmosphere was breathtaking. Everyone was detectably full, but just could not pass up dessert. We ended the evening with desserts; the Tiramisu and something made of Apples again tormented our palate.
If you are ever in the area or need to take that Special Someone out to eat, definitely consider Olives Restaurant on K Street.
Definitely will go back!!!!!: Ok.... so I went to this restaurant one evening and let me just say, that it was absolutely awesome!! From the, bread with rosemary, to french martini, to the delicious tuna tartare, down to the melt in your mouth chocolate soufle. I would def say that if you're out on a date make reservation for the lower levels, and if you're out with co-workers or a girl's night out stay on the upper levels and check out the bar. I heard the bar tender can make a drink that taste's exactly like wedding cake... hence the name. Either way you can't go wrong here.... you spend a little, but it's def worth it!!!!!!
Olives: Love the food and atmosphere of this restaurant... the flatbreads are delicious and the wine selection is exceptional! One of my favorite lunch spots.
