My boyfriend and I stayed at the Beacon Hotel last weekend for my birthday and we had a wonderful time! The hotel is very clean and we were very happy with our room!! I would suggest this hotel to my family and friends. It is in a safe and very nice location. It is close to many different types of restaurants. The bellman was very helpful and gave us brochures on the different tour busses. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the hotel and its' staff! Make sure to go to Georgetown and also visit Washington Harbour it is beautiful!
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at ALL costs. This is the worst hotel I've been in, hands down. We were given a non-smoking room that was located on a smoking floor, as though the smell of 50 smoking rooms didn't sink into every inch of the floor. The air conditioner smelled like mildew whenever it was turned on. The ledges around the windows were unfinished. The walls were paper thin. Our sink wasn't actually attached to its pedestal. It was sort of hap-hazardly resting on it. Our tub took 20 minutes to drain after a 10 minute shower. The staff left a tray of room service out in the hall a few doors from ours for 3 days. The staff at the front desk had no idea how the dry cleaning THEY OFFERED worked, and I had to fill out the forms for them. It's not rocket science, people! They left my friends car outside, unlocked, keys in the ignition for hours until he happened by and saw it there. We had definitely had enough of them by the time we left, but they had one more little trick. They overcharged us by $350.00, and argued with us that they would have never quoted us the price we got, basically telling us that we were wrong and that weren't going to do anything about it (I was there for a wedding and getting a special room rate). They called a few days later and said that they were refunding our $350, so I'm not sure what happened, but they shouldn't have been so disorganized in the first place. The real indicator of this place is that EVERY time I went into the lobby, someone was complaining to the staff at the front desk about something going on at the hotel. That is a real indicator of how bad this place is. The only reason it is getting two stars and not one is that the restaurant was good and they wait staff and door men were really friendly. It's in a great location, but this hotel is terrible.
never stay here!!!! the maid stole from me and the hotel did NOTHING to help me!!!! They also charge 24$ everytime the valet has to park your car, but they didnt tell ME that until i had to paid at checkout! the messed up our reservations and gave our room away, so we got put in a tiny room where the heat didn't even work. honestly, stay at the hilton, its worth the little extra $!!!!
