User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI took my boyfriend here for his birthday. It was a great experience. The ambiance was very romantic and inviting (we sat outside). The food was great. We had hummus as an appetizer which was served w/ warm pita bread. He had the salmon & I had the chicken. The service was also wonderful. Staff was very attentive. Our server was very pleasant. The manager came up to us @ the end of our meal and asked us if we would like to take a tour of the inside of the restaurant. Overall, it was a fabulous experience and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice, private, romantic evening w/ someone special. Definitely worth it!
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAn unusual, special experience: The Iron Gate is a longtime restaurant that long ago polished its presentation. It's in a hidden courtyard, with indoor/outdoor seating that's seasonal (e.g, beautiful grape arbors outside and a fireplace inside). The food and service are as memorable as the setting. This is a dependable treat for business or to impress out of town guests.
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGreat food and ambiance: We recently visited the Iron Gate Inn during a visit by my wife's grandmother. It had been one of her favorite restaurants back in the mid-late 40s...and it continues to impress. Although the food types have changed with time, the restaurant remains outstanding. We enjoyed a wide variety of dishes off of the menu and washed it down with a great Vinho Verde. Expensive? Yes. Great service? Of course. Great food? You bet.
