A Nice Little Spot in Brookland: Colonel Brooks Tavern is a nice spot in just in Brookland just outside of the Catholic University campus. It lies just across the street from the Brookland Metro Stattion, which makes it very accessible to nearly everyone in the DC/MD/VA area.
One you go inside, you'll definitely get that "tavern" feel as the surroundings will quickly remind you of the bar in the TV show "Cheers". The service was excellent. The food was even greater. I recommend the chicken tenders, which undoubtedly were the best that I ever tasted in my whole life. Additionally, you'll find most of your popular beers on tap there. The bartender provided nice service.
If you are looking for a nice little spot in Northeast DC, Colonel Brooks Tavern should be your first choice.
Colonel Brooks Tavern: Like the place and have loved it for more than 20 years... I have seen folks come and go (anyone remember Norm) or Dennis or Frank the Bartender (R.I.P) well I do ...The bar is great and the ambience hasnt changed for years and I guess that is the way its supposed to be, Nestled in the heart of Brookland, Colonel Brooks offers great Pub Grub and flowing beers. $$However, there are NO discounts on beers and can be a bit on the expensive side for a yank of Guiness...but that keeps the rift raft out.
