So, working downtown means you have to lunch downtown and there's always plenty to choose from... but the Ascot which is an Indian all you can eat open buffet, stands out with the 3 I's being very: Inexpensive, Intriguing with Impeccable service. I went for lunch. You walk into what looks like a basement with a long stairwell and then it opens up to a huge dance floor with about 2 bars on either side. The eating area was raised on a pedestal. Its dimly lit and reminds me of the Flamingo Club like in the film Goodfellas. Its a little mafia-like for an International India cusine restaurante and I like it. I had never partook of Indian dishes before but this expanded my horizons... it was amazing! And a steal at the price! And the waiters where all deck out in tuxedos on a Wednesday afternoon... very sharp. Very charmingly, out of nowhere, they always pulled the chair out for little ladies like me. My only qualm: it was kinda dark in there... for the afternoon.. It would've been great ambiance for a couple. It was romantic with lit candles twinkling at each table with sparkling white table cloths but when you work downtown... everybody's a lawyer and its a little awkward to talk business with your collegues in a dim lit romantic setting.....
