I found Douglas Mahn when I felt getting a second opinion was in my best interest. I was seeing a periodontist in Fairfax who has a very good reputation and many years of experience, but I wasn't comfortable with him for some reason. I was impressed by Douglas, Mahn. He is a no nonsense kind of guy who informs his patients in a caring and professional manner. He sets aside the time needed to talk to his patients and inform them the best he can and to answer any questions. He is also very concerned about comfort levels and wants the experience to be as pain free as possible. I felt he was extremely honest and was there to do his job, which was to fix my mouth, not to string me along an expensive path and inform me later of what was inevitable, which was what I was experiencing at the first office.
Dr. Mahn's staff is professional, knowledgeable and kind. It's also very clean. I have no issues with this what-so-ever. There is a previous comment where a patient was upset with large dogs being in the office and his wife wearing gobs of jewelry and I did not observe these things to be true. Even if it were the case, it would be irrelevant to Douglas Mahn's ability to do his job and to do it as well as he does. In my opinion his qualities are; excellent bedside manner, professional, easy to talk to, strait forward and understandable, relaxed, experienced, caring.
I would be happy to recommend Douglas Mahn to anyone, knowing that they will be well taken care of.

The best! He came highly recommended by my dentist. He explained clearly my needs, the options, the proceedures, the time frame and costs. He and his entire staff have always been friendly, easy to communicate with and most professional. Hopefully, I won't have any more problems, but if I do I will not consider going to anyone else, even though it will mean a 3 hour drive to get there. I would recommend him unconditionally.

I must say I am the biggest chicken when it comes to having dental work done, however, Dr. Mahn made me feel so comfortable and at ease. He is very personable, & I was impressed with the amount of time & patience he spent explaining everything in my treatment plan. The staff was just the same, very polite and helpful- very professional office! Dr. Mahn does incredible work, and I highly recommend his practice!
