| About: | Capitol City Brewing Co. opened its doors in 1992 as the first brew pub in our nation's capitol since prohibition, thus giving its citizens and its many visitors the freedom to enjoy some of the finest hand-crafted beer in the country. On the front of our menu is the symbol of freedom, the Lady Liberty, a statue found atop our namesake, the United States Capitol. Nestled in the heart of Washington's rejuvenated downtown, this location has become a local landmark for celebrating great beer and food with family and friends. We have always taken great pride in our beer so come in and enjoy a cold pint of our very best and match it to one of the many menu selections tailored to the brews we serve. |

The food at Capitol City Brewing Company wasn't the best I've ever had. However, this restaurant is an example of how very good service and a nice atmosphere can make up for having just slightly above average food.
I ordered a burger and fries. The burger wasn't great quality, but it also was very inexpensive and cost just 10 dollars. Plus, it's a burger! How picky can you be! It tasted pretty good, and it was good enough. It didn't blow me away, but that's fine, because the waiter really took care of us. He gave us recommendations, was very professional, and he got us our food in almost record time! The service was very fast here.
I would definitely recommend Capitol City Brewing Company if you're in Washington, D.C. You won't get the best meal ever, but you also won't pay a fortune and it will satisfy your appetite just fine.
Food was very good. Service was terrible. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. And, when he did come to ask if we needed the check, he had a bored, sulky look on his face. The guy bussing our table eventually brought us ketchup and vinegar for fish and chips. We never did get a refill on soda and iced tea and were never asked how we were doing. We gave the busboy a seperate tip when we saw him and left a low one for the waiter. We're not going back.
My fiance went the night I found out I was with child in March `08. My very nice and cool waiter had to clean up a but of a mess. Couldnt keep my liquor down ( go figure!!). We ordered the ribs and chicken, and I had the crab cakes. Needless to say everything was great!!! Especially the cole slaw and those huge crab cakes, good Lord!!! The desert menu could have been a little more broad, but it made due. The prices were average and the atmosphere was relaxing and a good mix of people. Try it and see!
