I went to Asahi for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I am used to going to the sushi bars in Towson which I find very yummy. When I went to Asahi for the first time I thought it was ok! I figured where I lived Towson was a little far, so I decided to give it another go. I absolutely loved it. I got the Maryland roll which i wasnt to excited with. In towson they use real crab meat. Then I went for the third time and i got the 007 and Aka Tuna... FANTASTIC!!! Since then I go every week and get the same thing... I am hooked!!! There is one lady with short dark hair that works there and she is so enthuastic about her job.. She lets me try things I would never dream of trying and gets very involved with her tables. Since I have been going they have given my party and I miso soup on the house! I would definitely continue going back!
I am writing this review to share my experience at the restaurant. My friend and I went to this restaurant because of lunch buffet. The food was good. However, a waitress came over to our table at the end of the meal and began to scold about the food that was left on our plates. She was extremely rude by pointing her finger at our table and saying âthere shouldnât be any leftover food.â During this encounter she was confrontational. She also went to the next table and began to complaint the customers next to us about how we left food on our plates. I was very embarrassed since I invited my friend to a cozy lunch. To make matter worse, we complained to the management who in turn took the waitress side. Then, when we went to pay, we voiced our concern about the rudeness of the waitress. To my surprise the lady cashier told us to get out even though we hadnât paid the bill, so we left the restaurant. An off duty policeman who was inside the restaurant came out and wanted to talk to us. To end the story we paid the bill, but they have lost a good customer. I do not recommend this restaurant, but you need to judge for yourself. Remember to clean your plate.
I have been a regular customer here for years and recommend it highly. We go for the lunch buffet. The food is consistently fresh and we rarely find stale selections. The cost has been increasing over the last year or two, but is still a good value. The lunch time buffet is typically staffed with three suchi chefs. The restaurant is virtually always packed for lunch. Staff members are friendly and are somewhat limited in English skills.
Asahi presents a wide variety of cooked and raw sushi rolls. The raw fish is limited to salmon, tuna and halibut. Cooked items include shrimp, smoked salmon, "sea legs", eel and crispy fish skin.
There are two hot soups, a mildly spiced beef soup and mizo. A second buffet table has several varieties of kimchi (hot and cold), a spicy squid and vegetable combo (hot), marinated vegetables (cold), vegetable tempura, and a mildly spiced beef and onion dish (hot). The buffet is rounded out with fruit, marinated sprouts, green beans with sesame seeds, and lettuce salad.
Beer, wine and saki are available. Tea is extra.
