I was extremely disappointed with La Miche. Everything was overpriced, which would be understandable if the food was exceptional, but their food was not. When we came to the restaurant, we were notified they were out of french onion soup, so instead we had the baked brie appetizer and the caesar salad. Both were pretty tasty, but the brie came with an extremely small amount (barely enough brie for the 3 cracker sized crostini pieces), and the salad came with 2 croutons (not that i'm crazy about croutons, but you're paying $7 for just lettuce and dressing otherwise). We were given one roll each, which was actually quite good- but after eating the rest of the meal, we both wished we had gotten more, to make up for the lousy food. The duck l'orange seemed to be cooked properly, but the sauce overwhelmed the flavor of the duck. The only thing that was exceptional was the crabcakes (made out of huge lumps of crab meat), and would have been worth the whopping $33 price, if the sides had been any good. However, the ridiculously mushy "saffron" rice that came with it looked and tasted like something you would get at a cafeteria (I've made better rice from a 99 cent box), as well as the soggy asparagus. We both had high hopes for the restaurant, but left extremely dissatisfied.
Excellent; Onion soup was great, & the beef, duck, & lamb, main courses were perfect & the desserts good. Service was beyond the call-to-duty; server opened a second bottle of wine for us after a minor pouring incident; no charge. Delightfull, & congenial service. We will return soon.
Lacking: The food was spotty, but generally just okay. Some entrees were good and some were bland and overcooked. The worst part was the poor service and the fact that it took three days to make and confirm a reservation. Overall, the food quality is sub-par and it seems like the service staff is equally unmotivated to be attentive. We might give them a try in the future, but not too soon.
