It's hard enough to visit a love one but a few years ago I got up the nerve to visit my moms site. It doesn't have an elaborate or even decorative marker so it's always hard to find. She lies near the very edge of the creek, which after the interment, I was told the area wouldn't support one of the heavier markers. I was 20,inexperienced and responsible for the burial arrangements.
While searching for the site I wandered over to the edge, overlooking the stream and was so horrified at what I discovered or thought I discovered that I immediately tried to find out whose caskets, there were many, they were and why and how long they had been there. It also alarmed me they were in a water source very close to the housing development on the other side of the creek.
I started contacting every county agencies (what a run around I recieved)until I got an administrator to agree to meet me at the site, along with a representative of the memorial park. It took all of ten minutes to give me the act of how none of the caskets were burial caskets and how no human waste was polluting the water and they graciously apoligized, saying they were working to clean it up.
I haven't been able to go there since but it just seems to me that when we go looking for our dear loved ones one should never be exposed such a sight as cracked, shattered and exposed caskets. It seems my mom was buried on swamp land and I may find her sliding off the side some day.
My aunt's headstone has been broken for 4 years. Even after repeated requests to be fixed, they still would not fix it even though, THEY broke it, cutting the grass. bad service
WOW!!!: My brother passed suddenly and his father wanted to hold his burial at Harmony Memorial Park. On my first vist Kim Haggins assited me and she was wonderful. She soothe the pain of dealing with death. After that I still had three more visits to the Cemetary, paperwork, paperwork, sightseeing (for a place), comfort....the list goes on. Kim was amazing, I still have one more visit but I recommend the entire staff, especially Kim, if you need this service.
