i read reviews from salon citrine and came in to get my color fixed. the girl that i went to had no idea what she was doing. put dye on my hair four times. by the time it was all done my head was sore my hair was so dry and the color was worse than when i started. i had to go get my hair cut shorter and waiting for my hair and scalp to be better so i can get it fixed. i will never go to her again.
Two words: Patricia Porto. I came in with a pretty sad excuse for a haircut...for some reason, I had it in my head that I wanted to grow out a white-man's fro, 'cept it didn't really work. At all. So after about 4 months of looking stupid, I went in to see Patricia, and she reconciled the situation pretty quick. When I sat down, I realized that it was a bit hard for me to explain the kind of cut I was looking for, so, being somewhat of an artist, I drew it on a pad of paper and gave it to her. After the cut was finished, Patricia and I had a bit of a laugh, because she had nailed the style EXACTLY. It was just what I had sketched. She's creative, talented and confident with the blade. And the assistant gave me 5-star treatment, a neck and scalp massage that'll put you into a 6 hour coma. Thanks, Patricia!!
Pros: Creative atmosphere! Very clean, upscale. Excellent facilities (seemed new) and parking. That is very important in Bethesda (2 hours free garage).
Cons: busy!! But I have only been there on Saturdays.
Patricia if you read this check out my baby!!!!
All I can say is that I was lucky enough to be able to have Patricia (the salon's owner) cut/style both my hair & my husband's after a terrible experience at a salon in Rockville. Citrine's prices are incredibly reasonable, especially by Bethesda standards, and she & her team are the best colorists & stylists I've experienced to date. From day 1 I have been incredibly pleased with how Patricia styles my hair, and I truly appreciate that she and her team are so good at what they do that they do not need to keep you in their chair for hours on end. My husband & I have been going to Patricia since Nov. 06 and we couldn't be happier! We live closer to Rockville, but do not mind driving the extra few miles for the best salon experience (in our opinion) in town. Our only fear is that Patricia's salon will become SO popular that it will make it a little more challenging to get in to see her. We never feel any pressure to purchase her hair care product line (I find that her styling products work 100 times better on my hair that others I have tried, and a little goes a long way so you get the best value for your money). If you are fed up with terrible salon experiences, or if you are looking to try a new place, I would HIGHLY recommend Citrine Salon. It's funky & hip, without being trendy and everyone on her team are top-notch! In my opinion, this is the best salon for the best value in Bethesda!
