The Ale House makes me feel like I'm walking into my own house. The decor is very inviting and warm (literally, too, with the faux fire places). It is very relaxing and "homey." The menu, though, is a little sparse, but the portions are big and the food is delicious. I also like the location: right at the corner of Doctor Bird and 108! It's not too out-of-the-way, but it's just enough out of the way to be unassuming.
Olney Ale House has been a meeting place for my family since the 60's, and we often drive an hour to dine there. Yet we probably won't ever go back, after being snubbed by the manager today when we arrived. In spite of the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty, she was downright rude in refusing to seat us until the entire party arrived - even though we wanted to order drinks and appetizers. 'Guess she's never heard that you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. By the time our excellent food arrived (minus the drinks and appetizers we didn't have time for, after wasting several minutes in the cold and drafty doorway) our dining experience was already ruined.

Dear Margaret: I would appreciate it if you would contact me directly. I am the manager at the Olney Ale House and I would like to personally discuss with you the fairness of your comments. Thank you, Ruby Abell
