Good food and good service. This restaurant has suffered under a series of owners but the employees have remained remarkable constant. I understand that this restaurant has changed hands again. I hope that it is for the better. I have been eating here for more than 20 years and I would like to see them survive.

Ernie's just got a face lift!: Well, my husband and I had first visited Ernie's a year ago. Pretty good food and drinks, but the establishment itself was run down and pretty low-rent. We decided to give it another try last week (because we had loved their "Chesapeake" wings so much last time). We're so glad we did! Ernie's had just undergone a major renovation. The bar area is much more open and clean. The prices are still great ($6 for a terrific burger and fries.) We tried the pizza on our most recent visit, expecting a greasy but edible meal. But it was so delicious! Seriously, we'd go back just for that. But their absolute specialty is still those wings.

One thing that made the experience slightly less than perfect-- the bartender treating the staff horribly. This was on Friday, May 25th, 2007. I hope an owner or manager reads this, because it was really disturbing to the customers. My husband and I were sitting near the register/kitchen area, so we unfortunately heard a lot of staff conflict. One of the waitresses looked like she was going to cry, and another said, "I'll walk before I am yelled at like this." And the bartender snarled, "So, WALK!" I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable. People go to a bar to unwind from a long work week. Having to sit through staff stress and fights really ruins the mood.

We will definitely go back. Prices are right, the food is good, and the place (finally) looks great. I just hope that bartender lightens up and treats the wait-staff with the respect they deserve.
