Real Ramen!: The only place to get real Japanese food and not just the 'sushi' perceptions that Americans always seem to have. America has more so-called Japanese steak houses per capita than Japan. When I lived there I saw only one and it was an American chain. They speak Japanese here. Not Korean. Real Ramen!. You can not find that anywhere else in DC.
Ok - not much sushi selection: Few types of sushi on menu. Sushi was ok, nothing exceptional. Other food on menu was lots of pork. Flavors were not very intense. I wouldn't go back again.
Japanese don't eat only sushi!: This place brings a host of menu items common to Japan, but unknown to most in the US. Their sushi and sashimi are ok but totally unexceptional, and I think the kitchen is a bit rough with the deep-fried items. They really shine with the items you don't usually see in the US, like oyakodon, omu-rice, beef rice, curry rice, etc. I enjoy their tonkotsu ramen, although I'm sure it's from a package mix and not made from scratch. Ambiance is great; you feel as if you traveled to another country. Service is always good and friendly. I found prices to be just a bit high for the food, but it's worth an occasional visit.
