is this joint a barbecue place?...i don't think it knows what it is...the platter that offers various tastes of ribs, jerk chicken, shrimp, and sausage should offer a glimpse of the soul of this shack...what it reveals, however, is that they can't cook anything worth sacrificing the calories or cholesterol...yup...i'm an old fart and i've eaten enough barbecue to know i won't waste my time or money [it's not cheap] at this place...there was also a critter wandering around the men's room floor which a friend discovered after we had finished dinner...not going back, needless to say
I drove a long way to give this place a try.....and it was NOT worth it. They got my blackened salmon order wrong TWICE. They kept giving me what looked to be a plain, baked piece of salmon with no seasoning. So I traded for a rack of ribs. The ribs were not tender and tasted BAKED.....no trace of a grill or smokey flavor anywhere on them. I had to slop half a bottle of my own BBQ sauce on them just to eat them. The baked beans ARE straight out of the can ($3/serving)....the slaw was room temp (yuck)....and the mash potatoes were just okay. I really had my heart set on some good BBQ, but the food here and the customer service is seriously lacking. Very disappointed!
New ownership has done great job of leaving it alone. Consistently good food. Still a local place thats like a best-kept secret. Southern, salads, burgers, specials...all very good at reasonable prices. Could use a few more draft beer selections.
Desserts are over the top (thats good!)

You brought your own BBQ sauce to a restaurant? Do you do that often?
