    Unique and fabulous: Very unusual but delicious flavors. A good place to get the kids to try something different. Mango sorbet is the bomb!

    Island Flavors: York Castle Ice Cream in the Maryland region of the Beltway may have the tastiest and most interesting ice cream in the DC area. The Jamaican establishment serves all the ice cream essentials, as well as seasonal flavors. However, the business's best offering is its selection of tropical and Carribean flavors like soursop, ginger, rum raisin, passion fruit, banana, pineapple, and guava. My favorite flavor is their grapenut ice cream. Nutty, slightly sweet, and satisfying, the grapenut is an excellent choice.

    The service is "island-style;" so be prepared to wait. Efficiency is not their strength; so, it may not be a good spot for very large groups. Otherwise, this hidden gem in Silver Spring is a great place to buy delicious homemade-style ice cream in fun flavors at a reasonable price . . . by the cone or by the pint.
