My husband Mario and I go to Cafe DeParis regularly. We travel regularly and always try any French restaurant that gets good reviews. Cafe De Paris is our favorite at home. My hub likes their Rack of Lamb a lot and he's pretty picky. They usually have a good wine and sometimes Eric has something special.
The ambiance is lovely, music good (soft jazz) and I saw that a few people critized the service. But I 'd say, go back. We've never had anything but very good service. We both love their mussells and wish Eric would bottle that sauce and sell it. It's to die for.
In years I think we've only been disappointed once and Eric made that up to us. He's the perfect host, warm and attentive.
Do yourself a favor. If you want to go a really great French restaurant that is pretty dependable, try Cafe de Paris. (no relatives...we just love it). :)

I went here a couple weeks ago for Sunday crepes, and the service was terrible. Clearly, the waiters did not take their jobs seriously enough. First, my wife's order was messed up (the waiter was so confident in his ability that he didn't even write it down). 2nd, the crepes took forever to come out (there were very few people in the restaurant at the time of day we were there, so there is no excuse b/c of being very busy). 3rd, the server forgot our dessert order. 4th, the server seemed like he was on something and had his eyes glossed over. and 5th, we got the wrong person's bill. Overall, not a great experience and I would not come back here again. Clearly, some thing needs to be done about the service. The food actually was not bad, but nothing special.

I do not see what the hype is about. This was a big disaster. I would rather have ate a PB&J sandwich at home.

Excellent French Food: I have been going to Cafe de Paris since before they moved from Laurel, MD. I love the food there and if they were less expensive I would eat there all the time. With the addition of the crepe place we have started eating there more often. First off the place is split into two seperate restaurants, a newly added crepe place and normal french restaurant. I have eaten at both.

    1) The Crepe Cafe, it is what it says it is. A crepe restaurant, nothing more, but they prepare the best crepes I have had anywhere at a cheap price. One warning, if you have a kid that doesn't like crepes you may want to bring a meal for them with you. There are no other choices on the menu unless you want to order a kids meal from the main restaurant and pay $10 a meal for it. When we go with our daughter we bring food with us. As for the food, I loved the Exotic crepe a mixture of Apple, Raisin and chicken mixed in a mild curry sauce. Who would have though that mixture would work in a crepe, but it does. My wife had the Basquaise crepe, a chicken and Ratatouille crepe. IMHO, it was only OK because I am not a big fan of Ratatouille but my wife loved it. For desert we had a Hazelnut and Chocolate crep that was wonderful. An excellent meal for a good price.

    2) The main restaurant - we have eaten here several times, although on my last visit I had some issues with the waiter. First he spilled a drink on my wife. We had to ask for a new table after the spill (he never even offered it) and he had poor knowledge of the menu and wasn't very attentive. It turned out our waiter was hired just that week and he never even mentioned any of the problems to the management who where very apologetic when they found out. We have been there several times and this was the only time we have had bad service. As for the food, it is excellent but a little on the expensive side. They offer a 3 course price fixed menu for $42 but many of the entrees are not included. My wife loves the French Onion soup. My wife got the Boeuf a la Bolognaise and I got the Fish of the Day. My wife's meal was pretty good but it came out a little on the cold side (again an issue with a new waiter) and didn't seem to have all the flavors you would expect at a french restaurant. However my rockfish was excellent. Cooked to perfection, seasoned just right. Finally the desert. We got the Chocolate Fondant and the Creme Brulee. Both were excellent.

Between the two French restaurants in Howard County I prefer Cafe de Paris, except for when going on a romantic date. The ambiance at Tersigals lends itself a little more to a romantic night, but Cafe de Paris seems to have a better value for the money.
