   Don't really know what the big buzz is about Cali Pizza Kitchen. "Different" styles and options for pizza can certainly be fun, but we found their pizza to be none-too-tasty. As a matter of fact, we ended up dumping the leftovers! Don't settle for a boring chain restaurant pizza. Go further afield and enjoy something from a local pizza establishment. #1 is Pizza John off of Back River Neck Road in the Essex area. A one and only family establishment with renowned excellent pizza. Just don't go on Mondays when they're close. Another good choice is Strapazza in Towson. Excellent crust, and some different topping choices. We love a pizza topped with feta cheese and proscuitto ham when we're in the mood for a saltier taste. Another pretty good local pizza place is Squire's at Holabird and Dundalk Avenues in Dundalk. If you're going to go chain pizza, we'd recommend Vocelli's, which offers a wide range of topping choices and has a number of locations in the Baltimore Area. Their salads are also good!

   Pizza at its Best: CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN offers much more than pizza. Order pasta dishes that include a variety of delicious items, such as roasted peppers, vegetables, and assorted cheeses. The gourmet pizzas are a must, and if you like BLTs, I highly recommend the BLT pizza. Yes, California Pizza Kitchen actually makes one of those. Located in the Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, MD, this wonderful restaurant offers great food at a great value, and is surrounded by numerous stores, a wonderful view, and more than a few places where you can grab delicious desserts. Check it out on your next trip to Gaithersburg - I think you will find it a worthwhile excursion into the world of culinary delights, at (still) very affordable prices.

   Great Surprise: If you think this is an ordinary pizza place you are dead wrong (as I was). Gourmet styles that blend ingredients such as pears and blue cheese in a delicious pizza with a salad as topping! To think that we ended up here because the Cheesecake Factory next door had a 45 min wait.
