East meets West at the Walters. On one hand, its collection spans nearly the entire history of Western art. Its spacious galleries are home to Greek and Roman statuary, Baroque carvings and a large collection of Renaissance paintings. On the other hand, its elegant Hackerman House wing holds one of the largest collections of traditional Asian art in the United States. Admission to the permanent collection is always free.
Walters Art Museum: This is a wonderful place to spend a quite rainy afternoon. Lovely seroundings , quite reflections. One of my favorite places to go on a rainy day, it keeps the blahs away.
Enjoyed my visit and learn something new everytime: I visited the museum a month ago I beleive when they were introducing an exhibition of The Early History of the Bible and old Hebrew Scrolls, It was exciting to be able to see articles of the oldest spiritual times of man.
I will go back again and again......: I learned so much on that first trip. First, if you are a student you recieve a discounted price. The different cultures and sculptures that I saw in each time period throughout history was amazing. Down in the lower level, they even have something for the children to experience. Go and take your family with you. Enjoy, learn, soak everything in and then go again. You will leave the gallery wanting to experience more each time you go.
