I ordered a shrimp salad, by phone for lunch, and made a request for no bacon in the salad, and the waitress assured me that bacon would not be in the salad. I drove across town to pick up the salad and I tipped the waitress, but when I arrived back at my office, the salad had bacon in it. Since I don't eat pork, I had no lunch that day. I called on the phone and the manager was very nice and mailed me a $25 certificate for my trouble. If, after this, everything would have gone well, I could have lived with this; no big deal. However. on a different day, I used the $25 certificate to order two steak dinners for myself and spouse as well as food for my child (we have had their steaks previously). The steaks were tough and not very tasty - not like what we have had previously on multiple occasions. I had to add $20 to the $25 certificate for the order. By the way that the steaks were cooked and the way that they tasted, you would have thought that Applebees felt that they were giving us something for free and dug down to the bottom of the barrel to give us these tough, horrible crusty tasting steaks! I am very disappointed with Applebees of Catonsville. Furthermore, as I was driving away from the curb with the meal, the supervisor for curbside service wanted to ask me what happened that caused me to get the $25 certificate: who was the waitress on that day etc. This should have been taken care of when the certificate was issued and not for a second time by another supervisor holding me up with my meal. This is not my problem nor was it a free meal. I paid for my meal, gave a second tip to the waiter and I am ready to go eat; I should not have to pull back up to the curb to explain to a second manager why & how I got the certificate. Afterall, the meal was not free or a gift. I paid for both meals. The $25 certificate was not enough to pay for the two lousy steak dinners and kids meal. I'm really disappointed. I don't want to eat there ever again.
Our family of 5 was greeted by a friendly hostess and promptly seated around 5:30 on a Sunday evening. Our waiter paid just the right amount of attention to us. Two managers checked on us to see if everything was satisfactory.
We got our drinks and our food within a reasonable amount of time. The portions were large enough that we had to ask for some boxes to bring the left-overs home.
Poor service, long wait, and still no food!: My friends and I visited this Applebee's during Christmas week. We waited over an hour, and STILL were not served. We placed our orders shortly after we got there, but the waitress forgot about us shortly after we got there. We asked for the manager, but by the time she got there, it was really too late since some of my friends had to go back to work. We left after over an hour without being served.
