| About: | Although it's located on the top floor of the American Visionary Art Museum , this is by no means your typical art museum restaurant. The food served in this spacious and sleek, yet entirely comfortable, room is original and refreshing, with a subtly tropical bent. The Roast Chicken, for example, is covered with mole sauce and the Barbecued Shrimp are laced with papaya. Be sure to reserve a table by the arched windows for a tremendous view of Baltimore's harbor. |

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsBest outdoor deck in town: From seafood to tapas to modern American dishes, Joy America's menu is fabulous and suites all tastes. But the creme de la creme is a seasonal seating on their covered outdoor deck. With a location close enough to the water to enjoy an ocean breeze, but inland enough to still find ample parking, Joy America is a favorite place for evening drinks and dinner. It remains a great date spot and quiet alternative to the crowds at the harbor. When seated indoors, the dining room can be loud with echoes, but the view and menu make up for it. Also, visit the adjoining American Visionary Art Museum's standard collection of modern art, or one of its travelling exhibits, located in the same building. On the South side of the harbor across from the Rusty Scupper, a Joy America/AVAM combo outing can't be beat.
