I compare every broiled crabcake I order from other restaurants in the Baltimore/Washington/OC area to the one I get at Pappas. And the crabcake at Pappas is still unbeatable. Filler is minimal and the seasoning is perfect. For the crabcake platter at $14.95 (mid 2008) with a fresh garden salad and another side, I accept the crackers and the specially prepared delicious cucumber appetizer. When my son comes for a visit, he always orders the double crabcake platter. Don't know where he puts it. He's half my size... maybe not for long.

My girlfriend and I recently relocated to Raleigh, NC and our only regret is that we have not yet been able to find an environment as inviting and relaxing as Pappas. Although I'll be first to admit that the entrees are overpriced, the other items on the menu are certailnly a bang for thier buck so to speak. I recommend trying lighter fares such as their calamari, greek salad, and/or crab melt sandwich...you wil not be disappointed. In addition, their drink prices are cheaper than 90% of the other restaurant and bars in the Baltimore area. Pappas bar offers a great environment for friends to relax or catch the latest sports game. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to make all who enter feel welcome.

My Husband and I were celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary on Nov. 1st. We arrived early, but despite requesting a specific table much in advance of that date, we were seated late at an "OK" table. Positives were: the staff was friendly/accommodating and the crab cake was good. Negatives were: the meals were overpriced for what you get. Why do ala carte side orders cost $1.95? Since when does a "sliced tomato" cost that much! I ordered sauteed sea scallops, which were good, but the remainder of the dish was filled with toasted bread slices and my "stuffed potato", which was presented in an aluminum tin approx. 2" in circumference. Where was the rest of the potato in the words "stuffed potato"? (Another overpriced item!) Why were there crackers and butter in baskets on the table? For the cost of the meals, Papas should offer hot bread or rolls, not crackers!!! Side dressings for the salads, were presented in plastic cups with lids. No class in that presentation..reminded me of carry-out service! We will openly share our experiences of that evening and, needless to say, we will not be back to Papas!!!
