D'Atri's is ALWAYS my favorite place to eat! The seasoned lettuce is one of a kind. The dressings (ranch and bleu cheese) are homemade and are great! Eggplant lovers should try the eggplant parm. It's great. As for those of you who complain about service, order your meal to go. I am a server myself and know how stressful it can get when you have snotty people thinking they deserve the best. It's not four star but it is good food! People do have bad days, so if your server is not the best tough it up and deal! That's why they have carryout!
The sign said SEAT YOURSELF so, we did just that. After waiting for nearly 10 minutes in an almost empty dining room, a "waitress" (if you can call her that) slowly appeared at our table. She asked if we knew what we wanted or did we need to look at a menu.
She was carrying our menus tucked under her arm!
We told her that, no, since there were no menus on the table, we hadn't made a decision on what our orders would be. After another 10 minutes, she returned and we placed our orders.
I ordered a "sausage & gravy on homefries" and I must say that I was shocked and saddened by what eventually arrived at our table. This $4.50 "highlighted" menu item was presented to me on a serving dish the size of a remote-control. The portion was suitable for a kindergartner and there could not have been more than two tablespoons of "gravy" scattered across the scanty offering of over-fried potatoes.
Oh yes, one more thing: the waitress never returned to our table except to bring the check. So, her tip walked out the door in my pocket.
D'Atri's is my hometown favorite. I moved to Oregon 7 yrs ago and still have cravings for their food. Everytime I am home I eat there. The Cheese Steak Sub is the best. You cannot duplicate the seasoned lettuce either. Their pasta dishes are excellent too. The "Italian Special" can feed a family of four...i'm serious!
