Nice ambiance, quality of food was mixed: The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, but unfortunately we were seated by four boisterous businessmen, so it ruined the mood a bit. The bread was not terribly fresh, but they had some interesting different types. The food is overpriced (e.g., $33 for a steak...and that's all. Sides are extra), but you expect that from Ruth Chris. What I didn't expect at that price was a steak that was raw in the middle (quite a large part of the steak). They were happy to take it back and cook it some more. Aside from that, the steak was excellent. The salad and mashed potatoes were good, but nothing special. My wife had the filet and shrimp combo and loved it. We had the chocolate sin cake for dessert and it was excellent.
Always a great meal: The food is absolutely excellent and the atmosphere is too. The service is outstanding.
The place you go to as a reward: You've heard all the ads (If you're a conservative radio listener), and sooner or later you will be compelled to go.
You can drop more cash at a few other spots in town (not too many...), but you can't get any more for the money. Old world service from the curb to the crapper. A good, if not cheap, wine list. Lots of cigars at the bar, coupled with heady drink pricey suggest that you have your own wine in the hotel (or gutter) with friends, and save the money for the chow.
About the best steaks you'll find in any town, a big fillet for about $33 or so, but worth it. Elemental flavors, no fancy herbs and marinades and such. You get a good, filling, steak and don't need to get all damp over the "exquisite presentation" (that which which is all that one can say about at the trendy anorexia places down the street. "No ma'am, we didn't forget you entree, its there, right there, under the second mint leaf").
Shared a la cart veggies and spuds are excellent too.
Always a first choice if you are being shipped to the desert for 4-12mos, and want to have a memorable last evening together. They also have donated a bunch of gift certificates to the war-wounded at Walter-Reed, and it didn't seem to be for the publicity.
Only a slight ding on the value end, as a good dinner for two and a couple glasses of wine will set you back about $100. But if you're going for a bigger night out, it is the best value.

Just got back from Ruth Chris in Annapolis. Wife had the steak filet. It was great. I had the ribeye steak and it was tasteless. Manager didn't even come and talk to me. totally inappropriate when you pay $40 for a piece of meat that tastes horrible. Just get the filet steak not the ribeye!!!!! and hope the manager isn't in the back asleep!!
