Service was slow, waitstaff rude, and the food was mediocre. Worst of all: recognized a manager who is a state registered and convicted child molester - absolutely outrageous for a family restaurant and wedding banquet hall! Disgusting!!!

We love Venuti's and go fairly often (~once a month). The fresh baked bread is always hot and delicious (and much better than the plain white bread you get at other restaurants). I've enjoyed the chicken and sausage d'amico as well as the meat lasagne. The desserts are AMAZING! They have their own pastry chef and we've loved everything we've tried (tiramisu, chocolate mousse, cheesecake, and cannoli). Good wine list too. Really cozy setting typical of downtown Frederick - exposed brick and wood floors. Definately a favorite!

Up until now I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Venuti's Ristorante. Venuti's Ristorante has been the host of two very hard and sad days in our family life. After the funeral of both my parents, we were treated to the fine and compassionate service at Venuti's Ristorante. The service was great, the food was good (as you may tell by our last name, we are picky about our Italian food), and the price was in line with the high-end service we expected.

However, this was not the case Saturday night (October 13th). Under our recommendations, my daughter and her group of friends made reservations at your restaurant. Please note: the reservations where under the name of Wilson. With great expectations her group of 12 received not only bad food but bad service, then to top it off had to explain that they were not trying to skip on the bill to the police but just wanted to pay for what they received.

Two of my daughter’s friends ordered a top shelf steak. Not only did it take an hour to get their main courses, their appetizers arrived at the same time as the main course. One of them proceeded to cut their steak and take a bite; it had an iron/metal taste to it. The second person tasted their steak and noted the same thing. When it was brought to the waitress’s attention (the waitress was rude though the whole meal) she went and got the Manager on duty and he informed them that these steaks were the best in the county. From my experience of eating steak, they have never had a metal taste to
them. They asked to send it back and be replaced. This was met, with an absolute no. Another friend ordered a pasta dish, the noodles were hard they were either under cooked or old and dried out, they were then cover with a spaghetti sauce and serviced to their table. She asked since the pasta dish was inedible if she could have any order of chicken tenders. Reluctantly she got them.

At the end of the dining experience it became heated, as my daughter’s group did not want to pay for what they had not received or eaten. Not only were they charged for the two steaks, they were also charged for the inedible spaghetti meal and the replacement of chicken tenders meal. When they told the waitress that they did not eat these meals and would like the two steaks and spaghetti meal removed from the bill, the Manager came to the table and stated you have two options: you can eat it and pay for it or you can not eat it and pay for it. At that time your Manager called the police. In today’s world of instant messaging, camera phones, phone recorders and the police report, it is more than obvious that your Manager not only overreacted buy calling the police, but also acted illegally by adding on a 20% required tip. Maybe this is why the Waitress was so rude the whole evening; she knew she was getting a huge tip no matter how poor the service. To try to salvage the evening and get to their dance the group agreed to pay this outlandish tip along with the food that was inedible.

Another thing that might be of interest to you, during the evening the other patrons in your restaurant commented to my daughter’s table on how rude both the Manager and Waitress were treating them. Not to mention, once the group got to the dance, the activities of the evening were the talk of the night, and there was not any good things said about your establishment
