User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsRecently my family was gifted an Amazon Parrot. It had an emergency and we found the Chesapeake Vet Hospital to be the closest. (We live on the Nanticoke River)
Dr. Shaw and the staff have saved the birds life and given it tremendously better quality. We are eternally grateful for the entire professionalism!
We found Dr. Shaw's "bedside manner" to be similar to our own, we are animal people...it's all about the animals! We applaud her courage and tenacity and perserverance.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI've known Dr. Shaw for many years now. She has taken care of my many dogs, cats, and an entire herd of alpacas. She is a sweet, caring veterinarian and has a heart of gold. I suspect any lack of "bedside manner" with the humans is actually just intense focus on her cases. The other veterinarians there and staff are great as well and all are totally devoted to providing the very best of care.

I had my 17 year old cat Jasper put-down on January 19, 2009. When I called the staff was wonderful. I had a 11:30 appointment and when my husband and I arrived we were immediately taken to a private room. My ole Jasper was so...upset. He had been out of it till we arrived at the vets. (Never liked it at all) Ha!
The assistant gave him a shot which immediately calmed him and he was going to sleep. My husband and I could not watch the final procedure. The assistant carefully wrapped him and took me (when I totally lost it) "You have been a good mommy and most marriages don't last as long as Jasper has" . She brought MUCH comfort.
Thank you to all that helped during this very diifult time. I will bring my New kitty to you (when and if I get one.) Thank you again.
