The Globe is wonderful. Great for elegant dining or burgers & beers at the bar. Cool entertainment, too. Outstanding entrees.
You'll come for the music, but you'll come back for the food! This old silent movie house has been redone as a gourmet restaurant and music venue, in beautiful style. I was there near Christmas, and everyone who came in was astonished at how great it looked.
Did I mention that this is like four restaurants in one? There are several distinct rooms, two of which cannot view the stage (which is no problem for music nights). One of the rooms is a balcony art gallery, which adds to the atmosphere.
And while the entertainment and bar are first-rate, the food is spectacular! The menu is as varied as the rooms, with Japanese, Thai, Tuscan and American dishes, along with the usual bar food and Eastern Shore stalwarts, all done with a fresh twist.
I had the Boursin Filet appetizer, which was done perfectly medium rare with a nice reduction - it was just enough without being heavy. The Seafood Florentine is sinfully rich, and everything is clearly prepared fresh from top-quality ingredients. But the Cream of Crab Soup is the prize, full of lump crab meat, but not gloppy with potatoes or starchy. Instead, it's done like an oyster stew, rich and flavorful and refreshing.
The staff are friendly and total professionals, able to really listen and make appropriate suggestions from the menu, as well as help out-of-town visitors with local info.
On your way to and from Ocean City, it's worth stopping at the Globe for lunch or dinner, or even planning an extra day in the quaint Victorian town of Berlin. We'll be back soon!
My wife and I love this restaurant. The Globe has a outstanding mix of great high-quality food, live music, rotating art and a fun bar.
The asian influence on many menu dishes is refreshing. The wings are great too.
