Went in last week (2/13)just to see if they had blue crabs in the offseason. Place looked run down and nearly empty. The people working there acted like I interrupted them and seemed as if I was bothering them by asking them for a menu and if they had crabs this time of the year. Uncomfortable to say the least. Take out menu was used and prices written in by hand?!? Why stay open if you don't want the business? My recommendation is to find another spot if you are looking for friendly service and a decent place to eat. PS, how do you have flies in February indoors?
Got takeout today from Watermans 8/10 - a dozen crabs steamed to take home with us. They had VERY REASONABLE prices, 1/2 the price of their nearest competitor CrabsToGo right up the road. The staff was friendly and offered to bag it better for travel. While I didn't eat the whole dozen yet - I sampled a few and they were great!!! Consider this a good takeout option when you go to OC. I hear they have a great menu in the rest too, but we didn't eat there.
Went to Watermans off season. 5/20 in the early evening. Was not full, but was busy. We did not get any of the all you can eat feasts. Serving sizes for menu items were huge. Prices were in line with most of the other restaurants in the area, but given the sizes of the portions, was well worth the price. Clams and mussels could have been a bit hotter. Crab legs and shrimp were excellent. Did not try the blue crabs, but saw many people enjoying them. One group was eating as we entered, and were still cracking them open as we left. Expect $25 to $30 per person for meal and drink. Seating is mostly bench style, and wasn't the most comfortable, but was OK.
