This dealer has a well-earned reputation with anyone who buys and rides bikes in this area. They will take you to the cleaners every time unless you go in knowing exactly what the market value is on what you are considering buying and anything you're considering trading (best to never trade, as you will never get what the trade is worth). It is a lot like buying a car in the 70's. They move a lot of machines to unsophisticated buyers, and they count on that, so if a few people walk over their tactics and pricing, they really don't care. Buyer Beware definitely applies here.
Two fingers down! (And I mean that in a good way). EZ to get a service appointment, convenient ride-in service area, friendly techs, job done quickly and correctly, very good prices. What's not to like?
While I am writing this while quite bitter, I'll be as objective as possible. But my overall message is BUYER BEWARE. Nice folks and showroom, but PRICEY and from the experience below, DISHONEST. I will not be back.
I went to Coleman Powersports 2 weeks ago and spoke with an associate, F, who was very friendly and discussed bikes with me. Once I picked one, I told him I had a trade-in and also had an offer on the same new bike that was much less than their asking price. He said AS LONG AS IT IS A WRITTEN OFFER FROM A LOCAL DEALER, THEY WOULD MATCH IT. We went on KBB and got an approximate trade-in value on my bike.
Today, I went back to trade-in my bike and buy the new one. I worked with B as F had the day off. B was nice and knowledgeable. He inspected my bike, noted it was in excellent condition, but that the dirty carbs would bring it down since they had to recondition it. Indeed, it was $500 less than F's ballpark, but I was fine with that as long as they would honor their previously stated PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE. Ummm, NO! Instead, they came back with a price close to the other quote and KNOCKED $800 off of my trade-in! As I was getting my gear on to leave, the trade-in offer jumped up $400, but that was still $900 less than the original ballpark. They said they could either PRICE MATCH and basically give me peanuts for my trade-in, or give me just a low trade-in and a high price on the new bike. MY GRIPE, I explained all of this to F the first day and he said NO PROBLEM. Yeah, it wasn't a problem for them...but a $900-1300 difference is a problem for my wallet...
I understand that they have to make a profit...it is a very nice showroom. But I think that they should be honest when dealing with customers and not try to price gouge. I mean, they tried to sell me the bike for only $200 off MSRP in November...this is when other places are offering $1000 off MSRP!!!!
Bottomline, make sure you know your numbers (and watch out for all the add-on fees, like prep, freight, etc) when you go in there, as they have some pretty ridiculous and fluctuating ones that they'll be happy to provide.
