I heard about Dalby's from a college freshman who was speaking at my school's college night. Her glowing recommendation intrigued me so I checked the place out. I was definitely the kind of person who needed a SAT prep center, if it had been up to me to study on my own I never would have cracked a book. I liked Dalby's instantly. Mrs. Dalby is personable and highly intelligent, whereas Mr. Dalby is wicked funny, but just as smart. I took their prep class for the March 2009 SAT and I can guarantee it works. My math score skyrocketed 30% from my diagnostic score to the score I got on my actual SAT. (My reading and writing scores stayed about the same, as they were already around 700, but the Dalbys have proven they can work wonders for those who have a little more difficulty with the English language as well) I have never used them for academic tutoring but I hear extremely good things. I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends. In fact I have- two of them. Both of my friends have been equally as pleased with their results as I was.
I've used the Dalbys for SAT, PSAT, and now GMAT tutoring. They've been in business for 20+ years or something, and seem to know everything there is to know about standardized tests. It's not cheap, but definitely worth what you pay -- this isn't the kind of place with a bunch of slack-jawed college students managing things. My SAT score went up 200+ points (... to 1560). They've just got way more experience than other companies, and it's truly a mom & pop kind of place.
