A familiar evening gathering place is in the piano bar with sing-alongs Monday - Saturday and the Wednesday Night Musical Showcase featuring local entertainers. The wine list must be experienced to enjoy the full range of offerings available to match any palate and tastes. Wonderful destination for a special occasion. ALthough in a strip mall, once you walk in the door you are transported to somewhere else.
The decor is superb. The piano player is a lovely, understated touch. Heavy linen, silver and dinner ware. Everything is beyond expectation.
Our server was extremely attentive knowing we were there for a "special occasion" and not regular diners. He treated us as though we had a Black Amex. He made intelligent suggestions and steered us to what went with what and wine pairings, etc. We felt like a million bucks!
The foie gras at the start was delicilous and a nice start. We ordered escargot, as we love it and this did not disappoint! My husband had the trout special and I ordered filet mignon. WOW! The filet cut like butter [literally, I cut it with my butter knife] and the trout was succelent and flakey. The reccomended wine choice was an excellent addition to our meal. [Champange with appetizers was wonderful too!]
The menu is extensive and is well thought out. You will want to order all the courses [well, we DID!] and it is not for the faint of pocketbook, hence a "destination" occasion.
We weren't rushed or made to feel inferior due to our lack of knowledge [so don't be scared!] - it was truly a sublime experience. If you want to impress and enjoy a truly wonderful meal then this is the place to go. Dress accordingly [We were in suit/tie and dress/heels].
I only hesitate on the last star because our table was so close to the others [2 inches] that I was uncomfortable talking to my husband [nothing personal, but I didn't think the gentleman to my right wanted to hear about our kids, right?] I have found this is the norm, as space is limited, so no worries. We did not know this going in, but I am sure you can reserve a different, more spacious table for your visit. We will.
Please go and enjoy this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
The food is ok and the service is good if you are not in a hurry. The Pate is excellentand the wine list sufficient. If Michael Terrance is at the piano he caters to his regulars and then to the newbies.
Best place for a romatic dinner. Not cheap, but it is not the place that you go to every week. Waiters do not rush you along, but give you time to enjoy your dinner and company. The roasted duck is marvalous. I can highly recommend Le Canard for a special occasion.
