rockin' li'l tavern: in the basement of the occoquan inn, on the banks of the occoquan river, in the heart of old town occoquan, is a neighborhood tavern that they essentially built the rest of the building around. one long room with the horseshoe bar at the back, tables in the middle, and a tiny, tiny bandstand (or alcove) at the front, the joint has atmosphere without being seedy. there is enough room around the tables for dancing and on weekend nights when the band is hot, look out. participatory terpsichorianism is gonna break out. rock & roll, blues, and r&b standards by top-grade local talent keep the walls thumping until closing time. bar staff and ownership are long-term fixtures in the neighborhood and the place is packed during the summertime. crowd is middle-aged to outright young; no age stratification here. no cover,no minimum, just show up with a thirst and your dancing shoes.
