I can't believe the bad reviews on here! I love coming to the Fish Market for their shrimp and pasta dish. It is one of my all-time favorite pasta dishes. The crab soup is also awesome. However, the bathrooms were a bit on the nasty side the last time I went. I have never had an issue with the courtesy of the staff and overall, I would recommend visiting the Fish Market.
The clam chowder that I was served didn't contain any chunks of clam and tasted rather bland.
The Fish Market may have been acceptable until, perhaps, 1980, and then we locals all realized tourists should be directed there so they didn't crowd the truly decent places. Overpriced, truly bad service, and questionable freshness of seafood.
The last time I was there the only things I trusted were 1) oysters on the half shell, 2) two shots of Meyers Rum, and 3) a schooner of beer. The reasoning? If the oysters were off, the rum might kill the microbes. If the rum made me ill, then I'd refresh myself with the beer.
Then again, the Fish Market is in good company: all the restaurants in Old Town are mediocre.
