While it is true that the difficulty in getting access to the owner on the phone can be unsettling, this is exactly the kind of no-nonsense "old coot" you want teaching your children to drive. He gives them practice in driving through neighborhoods, through busy Alexandria, and through parking lots. Guess what? That's where they're going to do most of their driving. After one of my daughter's teammates managed to hit a PARKED car on her way home from practice, I am even more convinced that this is the way to practice driving. But I imagine if you're an adult you might not want to put up with him. Too bad, I think he really has a handle on teaching a necessary life skill.

Didn't actually go there... I decided not to go with this school because I had a very poor customer service experience speaking with the owner/manager of the school. They don't have anyone answer their phone when people call; you are required to leave a message and then wait for someone to return your call. I had to leave four messages over the span of a week and a half before I heard back from anyone. Then, I got false information. Just so all of you who read this review know the law, if you are 18 and decide to get a learner's permit and additionally decide that you are not going to take the licensing test until you turn 19, you DO NOT NEED 36 HOURS of classroom training before you can get behind the wheel. The owner told me that he would not let me drive without this classroom instruction; this is in fact not necessary. If anyone at this school tells you something that doesn't jive with what you think you already know, be sure to check with the DMV. I talked to about 10 other schools that would have let me drive behind the wheel as soon as I got my license, and I am convinced that the owner DELIBERATELY LIED TO TRY TO GET MY MONEY for the classroom instruction.
