Tired and unimaginitive menu poorly executed using average ingredients. High quality ingredient-driven dishes showed well, but anything that required culinary skill fell well short of average. Tommato Capresi y' mozzarella was quite good (good produce and good cheese). However the spinach ravioli was over-cooked and leathery while the veal vittelo was dry and lacked flavor.
Desserts were well done and were the high point, and obviously did not come frm the same kitchen as the dinner.
Good location. On balance...over promised, over priced, and under delivered. There are many better choices.
Great Desserts!: Tivoli is the place to go for cakes and stuff! If you enjoy light and tasty desserts, this place is for you! I haven't tried the rest of the menu so I cannot vouch for them.
Not pleased 8/3/06 - Poor service: I visited the Tivoli resturant on Thursday morning 8/3/06 at the Arlington/Rosslyn store. I asked one of the ladies to make me a turkey sandwich on wheat bread. I got to work and I had rye bread instead. During the process of making my sandwhich. I noticed that the woman who was making my sandwhich- took a phone call within the store. Afterwards she went back and proceeded to make my sandwhich. She had one plastic glove on and the other hand had nothing. She didn't wash her hands or change her plastic gloves. I brought my sandwhich back and told her that she had gave me rye intead of wheat bread.
She took the sandwhich and changed the bread instead of making me a new sandwhich. I know people who work in the food industry and the correct and professional thing to do is to provide the customer with a whole new sandwhich.
The whole process really turned me off. Especially since they are such a well established resturant.
