South County Health Center

South County Health Center is there to provide services to people who are living in Fairfax County and are unable to afford health insurance. This place is awful in terms of their services. In order to get enrolled, you have to like fight for it by going there early in the morning to get in the line or by signing in. There are days when they open at 11 so you can just take off from work and go there. Since we all have so much time in our hands, we can just go there and sign-up and wait to get enrolled for hours and hours. Once you are enrolled in the program (which is not a big deal unless you have all your documents). But then the question arises of getting an appointment. If you call the office to get the appointment, expect to stay on the line for 1-2 hours, which is what I am currently doing to get an appointment for my mom. Even though, she is been in the program for more than 3 years. Once you have an appointment, its usually not in weeks but in months, so if you are dying please go to the nearest emergency and get yourself treated even if it means paying that money for the rest of your life. I have been taking my mom and dad for last 3 years and every time I go there, I have to have 3-4 hours in my hand to spend there. So if you have an appointment, consider it a picnic because you wont be done in an hour or 2, it will take up a lot of your time. But now its the limit and I just cant take it anymore. This is why I am writing this review. I have complaint regarding situations with the manager in the department and she did make sure that I will get my services on time. Some people working there in front positions are laid back and not willing to work effectively. There are also some people that take up long time just to see patients in order to give them referrals for doctors. I am not saying that all the people working there are bad. The management is trying to improve but I don't think that they are trying hard. They need to tell those people to work effectively because they are getting money from my taxes. So those people need to get their acts together and start picking up the fone so people could get their appointments. I am very disappointed with their services and it seems like they are giving you a favor by seeing you. But the reality is that we are all paying them for their services. Also, there is only one MD doctor there and about thousands of patient to be seen, there are two other doctors but I think that they are not MD doctors. Since, all the pressure is on doctor, he gets sick most of the time and he is not keeping up with his health and usually calls off sick.....As I am writing this, nobody has picked up the phone yet and its been 2 hours because I am writing in pieces.

So if anyone reads this and knows how to take this to higher authority please do so. I am really sick and tired of going to this place because it takes up my work time, school time and study time. But I have to do this because my parents are sick and can't afford to get insurance.
